Omega represents in NYC

In early May Omega Digital Director, Michael Kellaway, travelled to New York to attend the Young Presidents’ Organisation Innovation Week and participate in various panels. YPO is a global network of young chief executives with approximately 24000 members spanning more than 130 countries. As part of the experience, Michael got to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

We sat down with Michael to ask him some questions about his trip:

As Director of Omega Digital, what were your key takeaways?

There were two. The first was the vast array of really influential and interesting people that are trying to build businesses at different stages; getting to connect and learn from these people was a highlight. The second was to see how South Africa / African businesses compare with companies in the USA. In a lot of ways our business and our clients’ businesses are actually much more advanced from a technology perspective which was surprising.

What can you share with the team from your trip?

We can really be proud of the work that we’re doing, and the opportunity for us to grow our business and people outside the borders of South Africa is becoming an increasing reality.

The future of our industry – what are your thoughts? Where do you see the future of work?

Augmented reality and artificial intelligence pose really big opportunities for our customers.

Any interesting meetings?

I met with Nadine Hachach-Haram – a London-based surgeon and entrepreneur who has developed an video/augmented reality solution that helps mentor surgeons around the world. An amazing woman who is doing some really amazing work.
